In 2011 Spotify, a streaming music platform, made its debut in the US. This summer Apple finally came to the table with their offering, Apple Music. Streaming is the future of the music industry. But in order for it to be successful for the record labels, consumers need to pay for the service. However, according to Nielsen, an organization that tracks music sales and provides research on the industry, consumers minds will need to be changed before most of them start paying to stream music.
I would like to see the streaming music platforms spend money on advertising and telling consumers about streaming music. Americans know and understand Netflix and I believe if they had a better understanding of Spotify and Apple Music, more would join.
Last week Apple Music debuted a commercial that is a step in the right direction.
My goal is that this short video would give you, the music consumer, more information about Spotify and entice you to try it out. I chose to focus on mobile since that is where most consumers engage with streaming music and Spotify as that is my personal preferred streaming music platform. Apple Music and other competitors have similar product offerings to Spotify. I encourage you to give them a try.
